Day 1Our Tour

You will go accompanied by our “Samo Tours” tour guide in a tour among the historical mosques of Cairo starting with Al-Azhar Mosque which is founded by Jawhar al-Siqilly, the Fatimid conqueror of Egypt in 970 AD. It’s one of Cairo’s oldest mosques and the world’s oldest operating university

Then moving to the opposite side of Al-Azhar mosque to visit Al-Hussien Mosque which is one of the most sacred sites in Egypt and the Middle East. The mosque hosts the shrine in which the head of al-Hussein, the grandson of Muhammed the Prophet, is alleged to have been buried. The mosque stands in the heart of the square named after Al-Hussien where you can find many local restaurants serving the delicious Egyptian food , you can have lunch at one of them, then you can go shopping some Islamic clothes from the shops around the square, also you can have a walking tour in the 1000 years old “el Moez” street which is considered as an open air museum for Terrific Islamic Buildings which are decorated with different patterns and paints, then going to Khan el Khalili Bazaar which is one of Cairo’s main attractions .the district of Khan el Khalili was originally a mausoleum called “el Zaafran” for the burial of Fatimid Caliphs ,after that it became a district for the Turkish community during the Ottoman period , and now it becomes a bazzar where you will find many souvenirs shops ,coffeehouses “Café” serving Arabic coffee and offering Hookah “Shisha

Then moving on to visit El Sayeda Zeinab Mosque the granddaughter of Mohamed the prophet. The mosque houses the shrine of El Sayeda Zeinab.

After that proceeding to visit El Sayeda Nafisa Mosque who was one of the members of Prophet Mohamed who has a great reputation in Egypt and is regarded as a Saint. The mausoleum was rebuilt and decorated many times since the Fatimid period till now.

Then moving on to visit The Mausoleum of Imam al-Shafi’ who was the founder of one of the four rites of Sunni Islam, and is considered to be one of the great Muslim saints. He was a descendant of the Prophet’s uncle, Abu Talib, and came to Egypt in the 9th century.

Then, Ending the tour with taking a break at el Azahar Park which was an area covered with mounts of rubbish amassed during 500 years and when Agakhan IV visited Egypt in 1984, He decided to intervene and offer the city of his ancestors the much-needed gift of an oasis in this urban desert and he started the project of transforming these mounts of rubbish to a beautiful park. It is located on a hilly site surrounded by the most

significant historic districts of Islamic Cairo. It’s Considered as one of the World’s great public spaces. You will wander around the vast green area while seeing the great Islamic monuments of Cairo. There are also great restaurants there if you want to have a meal in front of this great view. Then going back to hotel.
